- New York State Learning Standards CDOS 3a — Students will demonstrate mastery of the foundation skills and competencies essential for success in the workplace.
Materials:
Opening Task (30 Minutes)
- Scholars will complete opening task on Schoology covering topics learned from python foundations unit
- Randomly selected scholar will facilitate review with peers
Jobs In A.I. (05 Minutes)
Brief overview of job outlook within the field of A.I.
AI Impact Discussion (35 Minutes)
Scholars will discuss events they have researched on previous day relating to A.I. and its impact on the world.
One scholar will be chosen as a facilitator/moderator to guide the discussion, and encourage input from all voices.
Scholars will be monitored based on their participation by instructor + TA as their grade for the assignment.
Break (10 Minutes)
AI Impact Discussion (40 Minutes)
Scholars will continue to discuss, with teacher introducing quotes relating to AI to agree/disagree.
Instructor will show two videos relating to AI and scholars will discuss ramifications
Real World Event Reflection (20 Minutes)
Scholars will complete a reflection on schoology to summarize their thoughts on the class discussion Directions:
Reflect on the class discussion on various events related to artificial intelligence affecting daily life, by responding to the following prompts. Your initial post should be a minimum of 300 words, with proper grammar and punctuation.
- Discuss the most intriguing or surprising aspect of the discussion and why it caught your attention.
- Share any insights gained from the discussion. Did the conversation alter your perspective on AI’s role in daily life? If so, how?
- Express any lingering questions or areas for future exploration regarding AI’s impact on society.
